At least six prominent schools in Delhi, including Delhi Public School (East of Kailash), Salwan School, Modern School, and Cambridge School, received bomb threats via email on Friday. This marks the second such threat in a week, creating panic among students, parents, and staff.

“Explosives in School Premises”: Threat Details

The email, accessed by authorities, warned of “several explosives in the schools’ premises” and blamed a “secret dark web group” for planning the alleged blasts. It criticized schools for not checking students’ bags frequently, suggesting that this negligence could lead to a catastrophe.

The email further claimed that the bombs were powerful enough to destroy school buildings and injure people. It specifically mentioned December 13 and 14 as potential dates for the bombings, coinciding with a scheduled parent-teacher meeting in some schools.

Authorities Respond Swiftly

Following the threats, schools immediately sent students home and alerted parents not to send their children to classes. Emergency teams, including the Delhi Police, fire department, bomb squads, and dog units, were deployed to the affected schools for thorough investigations.

The Delhi Police Cyber Cell is currently tracking the sender’s IP address and examining the email for leads.

Delhi CM Kejriwal Expresses Concern

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the situation “extremely serious and worrying.”

“This is the second bomb threat targeting Delhi schools in just one week. It’s deeply concerning for children, parents, and educators. Such incidents disrupt not only education but also the overall mental well-being of students,” he said.

Previous Hoax Threats Raise Alarm

On December 9, a similar bomb threat targeted over 40 schools in Delhi. That email, later deemed a hoax, demanded a ransom of $30,000 to defuse alleged explosives.

The hoax email stated, “Small bombs have been planted inside school buildings. While the damage to structures might be minimal, many people will be injured. You deserve to suffer.”

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are treating this week’s threat with utmost seriousness, given the repetitive nature of such incidents. The safety and security of schools remain a top priority as officials work to locate and apprehend those responsible.

For now, parents are urged to stay vigilant and follow updates from school authorities and law enforcement agencies.
