In a shocking case, a 39-year-old man has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly raping his 72-year-old mother twice. Police said the accused committed the crime as a way to “punish her” over a suspected affair from his childhood.

Victim’s Complaint Leads to Arrest

According to police officials, the elderly woman lives in Central Delhi with her husband, son, and daughter. On Saturday, she gathered courage and filed a formal police complaint, after being convinced by her elder daughter to come forward.

The woman told the police that she had recently gone on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with her husband and daughter. During that time, her son allegedly called his father and claimed that his mother lacked “good character” and demanded a divorce.

First Incident After Return from Pilgrimage

Police said that after the family returned to Delhi on August 1, the accused assaulted his mother and attempted to attack her again. Out of fear, she left the house and stayed with her elder daughter.

On August 11, she returned home. That evening, the accused asked the family to allow him to speak privately with his mother. He then allegedly took her into a room and raped her at knifepoint.

Second Incident Reported

Terrified and ashamed, the victim did not tell anyone about the assault. However, three days later, the accused allegedly raped her again.

After this, the woman finally confided in her daughter, who persuaded her to approach the police.

Police Investigation Underway

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan confirmed the arrest and said:
“The accused is a graduate and currently unemployed. An investigation is ongoing.”

The case has highlighted once again the urgent need for awareness, family safety, and support systems for senior citizens in India.
