Kabul Dismisses Islamabad’s Allegations

The Taliban government in Afghanistan has firmly denied Pakistan’s claim that India is using Afghan soil to carry out a “proxy war” against Islamabad.
Afghanistan’s Defence Minister, Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, called the statement “baseless, illogical, and unacceptable.” He said Afghanistan will never allow its land to be used against any other nation.

“Our policy is clear — we will never use Afghan territory against any country,” Yaqoob said in an interview. “We maintain relations with India as an independent nation and will continue to strengthen those ties within the framework of our national interests.”

Strengthening Ties With India

Yaqoob emphasized that Afghanistan’s relationship with India is based on independence and mutual benefit. He stated that Kabul wants to develop strong diplomatic and economic ties with New Delhi while continuing peaceful relations with its neighboring country, Pakistan.

“Our goal is to expand relations, not create conflict,” he added. “Pakistan’s accusations are completely unfounded and unacceptable.”

The minister also said that mutual respect and non-interference are key for maintaining peace in the region. He suggested that Qatar and Turkey could help monitor peace agreements between the two nations to prevent further violations.

Tensions Rise Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Recent border clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan have increased tensions in the region. The violence erupted on October 11, shortly after explosions rocked Kabul during the visit of Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, to India.
Following the blasts, the Taliban launched a military offensive along parts of its southern border with Pakistan, prompting Islamabad to warn of a strong response.

Pakistan accused the Taliban of giving shelter to militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), allowing them to operate from within Afghanistan. The Taliban has repeatedly denied these claims, saying that Pakistan’s airstrikes and aggressive actions are the real cause of the escalating situation.

The conflict has affected civilians on both sides of the border, forcing families to flee and disrupting daily trade and movement through the Torkham and Chaman crossings.

Pakistan Blames India for the Conflict

Amid the ongoing border tensions, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, claimed that the Taliban government was “sitting in India’s lap” and engaging in “India’s proxy war.”

In response, India dismissed the accusation, stating that it was Pakistan’s “old habit” to blame others for its internal issues.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said:

“Pakistan has a long history of hosting and supporting terrorist organizations. It is their old practice to blame neighbors for their own failures. India fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

India’s Balanced Approach Toward the Taliban

Although India has not officially recognized the Taliban government, it has taken gradual steps to rebuild diplomatic engagement. Meetings between senior officials from both nations suggest that New Delhi is cautiously working to restore ties for regional stability and mutual cooperation.

Conclusion: Shifting Power and Regional Strategy

The ongoing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan — and Islamabad’s attempt to link it to India — reflects the shifting balance of power in South Asia.
While Pakistan accuses Kabul of aligning with India, the Taliban insists that its foreign policy is independent and neutral, guided by Afghan national interests.

India, on the other hand, continues to focus on strengthening its regional presence while supporting Afghanistan’s sovereignty and peace.
